What is Solar Photo Voltaic System?

Solar Photovoltaic (PV) is a technology that converts sunlight (solar radiation) into direct current electricity by using semiconductors. When the sun hits the semiconductor within the PV cell, electrons are freed and form an electric current.

Solar PV technology is generally employed on a panel. PV cells are typically found connected to each other and mounted on a frame called a module. Multiple modules can be wired together to form an array, which can be scaled up or down to produce the amount of power needed.

Types of Solar Cells

  • Mono-crystalline Cell. Made by one cylindrical ingot of crystal silicon from a small seed crystal trimmed into a square and sliced into wafers.
Main Components of Solar PV System
  • Solar PV Panel
  • Battery Bank (Optional) - produced energy can be stored and use it when needed
  • Power Conditioning Unit - providing protection against short circuit or line to ground faults with thermal-magnetic circuit breakers. Combining DC supply from PV array and convert with inverted to AC supply. Controlling the energy input and output for battery bank
  • Electric Meter - to be asble to measure energy flow and its direction so that it will shows the exported or consumed kWh.
